Ever since the MyBookTable launch a couple of months ago, we have been hard at work making it better. We are excited to announce version 1.2 of the plugin, codenamed “Randy.”
This new version comes with more than just bug fixes; It has several new features that will help you sell new books.
What is MyBookTable?
MyBookTable is the easiest way to sell your books on your website. The following video will explain it in better detail.
10 New Features in MyBookTable 1.2
Below are a list of the new features and improvements we have made to MyBookTable.
1. Book Reviews (NEW!)
You can now show your GoodReads Book reviews within MyBookTable. Using this feature should also boost the number of new reviews you receive on GoodReads.
We are very excited about this feature. We had planned to add a standalone review feature but put if off because controlling spam would be a problem. It also creates yet another place to ask your readers to write a review, which we didn’t like. Now reviews count double, once for GoodReads and once for MyBookTable. Chances are your book already has reviews on GoodReads, so this will fix the empty reviews problem too. GoodReads also handles the spam issue for you.
- For examples of the review feature in action, see our example book table.
- We have a step-by-step tutorial on how to setup reviews in MyBookTable.
2. Easy Shortcode Insert Interface (NEW!)
You can now easily add MyBookTable shortcodes anywhere in your site without having to actually type in any shortcodes. Just select what you want from the list.
3. Single Book Shortcode (NEW!)
We have added some additional short code options. These short codes allow you to post a single book anywhere on your site or blog.
4. CreateSpace Buy Button (Pro & Dev only)
If you have purchased one of the MyBookTable add-ons, you can now add a CreateSpace button.
5. Gold Buy Button Style Pack (NEW!)
We now have two button style packs, Silver (Default) and Gold. We plan to add other colors in the future. Which one would you like us to add next? Also, your web developer can create a custom style pack for your website if he or she knows what they’re doing.
You can select which look you would prefer under MyBookTable -> Settings.
6. Google Analytics Event Tracking (NEW!)
Buy button clicks are now trackable events on Google Analytics. This will help you track the effectiveness of your book pages.
7. Built in Breadcrumbs (NEW!)
We have added breadcrumbs which will not only make your book pages easier to use for your visitors, but also improve search engine optimization. These breadcrumbs are fully compatible with the Genesis or Woo Canvas breadcrumb systems.
8. Semantic Markup and OpenGraph tags (IMPROVED!)
MyBookTable is now ready for the semantic web. This should improve Search Engine Optimization and social optimization.
9. Drag & Drop Book Sorting (NEW!)
You can now easily sort your books with just the click of a mouse.
10. GoodReads Button (NEW!)
In addition to having GoodReads reviews, we now have a GoodReads “Buy Button” if you want to send people to GoodReads directly.

MyBookTable is Free
For those of you using the free version of the plugin, would you be willing to leave us a review within the WordPress Repository? This will help others find the plugin. Thank you!
I love the enhancements! I have a suggestion for future release. In the Goodreads integration allow ASIN numbers for editions that are ebooks only and don’t have a ISBN
This all sounds really wonderful…but when is it going to be available for WordPress.com users? I’d love to have his available on my site!
WordPress.com can’t take plugins. To use this or any other plugin you will need to upgrade to WordPress.org.
I don’t have a “plug-in” button on either of my wordpress sites.

I am finally migrating to Genesis (from Thesis). Can’t wait to get started with the plugin!
Hi There!
I am loving MyBookTable so far. Been using it for a few months now. I noticed today that all of my GR book reviews that were on my website have vanished. I changed nothing in MBT settings. ISBN still the same as well as GR API Key. Please advise? Thank you for your help!
Rui
The GoodReads API is not always reliable. The problem is on their end not ours. This may fix itself with time. We are considering switching to Amazon for the reviews, or at least giving the option between the two if GR keeps causing issues.
